For the Kids? What does that even mean?
Its means hours of canning, duct-taping banners, volunteering at the hospital, pit-sitting to sign up moralers/volunteers/dancers, and thousands of dollars raised all to benefit the NC Children’s Hospital.
This weekend, over a thousand UNC students and community members will be dancing (for 24 hours straight) or volunteering(in smaller shifts) all for the UNC Dance Marathon.
That’s right. 24 hours on your feet. But it’s all for a cause.
Being a committee this year has made me appreciate just how much work goes into making the Marathon happen. Operations committee and the OC( all the committee chairs) were in Fetzer Gym until 2 am last night setting up. That is true dedication.
Sure, UNC DM can seem overwhelmingly. You might dread Dancer Recruitment Week, hearing DMers accost you at every corner( or at least in the pit) trying to get you to sign up, and Morale doing silly dances, and flash mobs on the quads. But at the end of the day, it’s not about you. It’s not even about the dancer or the committee members.
At the end of the day it’s about the kid. It’s for the kids.
